1. Mascaras :
Your pencil has been worn out until nothing is left; the jar of mascara gel scrapes the bottom; and the liquid liner is completely dry. Or maybe you are traveling and forgot to bring your eyeshadow pencil; oh, the tragedy!Your pencil has been worn out until nothing is left; the jar of mascara gel scrapes the bottom; and the liquid liner is completely dry. Or maybe you are traveling and forgot to bring your eyeshadow pencil; oh, the tragedy!
This is how you save the day: work your mascara deep into the tube to get a good drop. Then transfer everything to a clean, hard surface (your nail is ideal in a pinch); dab the edge of a fine-tipped brush and paint a very fine line along the lashes (a thick brush may not apply very evenly). This method is safe for your eyes and will ensure that your mascara stays in place for a long time!
2. Say no to the powder!
Powder, for many of us, is an essential element when it comes to our makeup routine. Maybe it’s because we start to wear makeup as a teenager, when our skin is much oily and … well, tighter.
The problem with wearing powder when you are older is that it tends to settle in the skin, and eventually even reveals tiny folds and wrinkles that you may not have noticed, but you definitely don’t want to attract attention.
The powder can still be useful when you are out for the night, but you may want to replace it with one of the many arrangement creams or sprays that will not only keep your base in place, but will also hide all of these effectively. wrinkles. These products are also a better alternative for a more relaxed and daily beauty regimen.
3. Lips :
Lip shaping is no secret: lips get thinner naturally with age, but shaping can help you get fuller lips with just a few brush strokes.
All you need are two shades of lipstick (a darker and lighter shade of a similar color), a liner (concealer) which is also a complementary color and an old regular concealer. Once you’ve gathered the supplies, start by lining your lips along the edges. Be careful not to come out of the lips, but just above the slightly bumpy part at the edge of the pigmentation.
Now draw lines going inward to the center of the mouth. Start by filling the outer half of your lips with the darker shade of lipstick, then the middle with the lighter shade. Use a sponge to thoroughly mix the two shades where they meet, but don’t go from one color to another. Clean the edges with a bit of concealer.
4. Know your foundation :
Finding the perfect background shade is a long and tedious process of guessing, testing and rejecting. Each brand has its own nuances and no brand has the same foundation color, so when our trusted brand is not available or ceases to exist, we want to have a nervous breakdown. But the reality is that using the right background shade is important enough to make sure your makeup is on point.
If you are over 50, then there is good news for you. As you get older, your skin tends to look brighter and younger when you wear a yellow foundation, so choose it much more easily. Golden hues in general defy age. yellow foundations will act against the grayish complexions that appear naturally with age and will give you a younger-looking complexion.
5. Lip balm = Eyebrow gel :
Filling the eyebrows to give them the perfect shape is a task in itself, but when you have to deal with unruly hairs – don’t even think about it! You already have a dozen makeup products and you don’t really want to buy them anymore. Fortunately for you, if you have a colorless lip balm, you don’t have to.
Use a clean brush, sponge, or even the tip of your finger to dab some lip balm on your eyebrows until they behave well and you’re ready to go. The impressive thing is that since most lip balms contain a lot of vitamin E, your brows will also be full.
6. Lights, camera, action!
You’ve just spent some time making sure your makeup looks conspicuous and you’re ready to go out and take on the world. But, stop, wait! We all thought we looked perfect at home and were horrified later in the day when we saw something in the mirror later in the day.
Before leaving the house, take a few minutes to do some lighting tests, especially if you are going somewhere where you will be photographed!
Once your makeup is done, first make sure it looks good under the bathroom lighting, since direct ceiling lighting is always your worst enemy. Then go outside and use a portable mirror to assess your appearance in natural light. If it’s dark outside, stay indoors and use a flashlight for additional lighting. You can even buy a lighted makeup mirror; some even come with settings that mimic different types of light. And finally, take a photo!
7. Apply eyelash glue with an eyelash pin :
We’ve all had the horror of trying to apply fake eyelash to make us look like famous people. But if done right, they can add the perfect finishing touch to your look.
First, choose the right type of false eyelashes (think thin and not too long). Then make sure you apply the right amount of glue. Despite what you might think, applying too much eyelash glue will not help them stay in place. In fact, it’s just the opposite: not only too much glue can knock off the falsifications, it can also make your eyes look weird or, worse still, momentarily close your eyes.
The best way to attach false eyelashes is to use the rounded ends of a hairpin to paint over the glue. Apply a thin line along the edges of your eyelashes and use tweezers to carefully place the false eyelash and allow it to dry completely.
8. Keep your body odor under control :
If you just put a body spray, all bets are open. But those expensive, high-quality eau de parfum that you spent a fortune on? Unfortunately, throwing it up and across it won’t make it last all day and all night.
Everyone knows that fragrances should be applied to pulse points, but few know all of the good ones. It’s not just about dabbing your wrists, but also to put some behind your ears, knees and the inside of your elbows. If it’s a more subtle scent (not too heady and intense), pat your navel a little and spray once on your back. As for the hair, do not spray it directly, as it will end up concentrated in one place and the alcohol can dry out your hair. Instead, spray the perfume on your brush or comb.
9. Toothbrushes aren’t just for brushing your teeth :
Braids are a beautiful hairstyle, whatever your age. They are not only practical and easy to erect, but also give a young and elegant look. But as you get older, your hair becomes thinner and your braids become more and more slender. It may look pathetic.
To start brushing your hair, braid it as you normally would. After fixing your braid with pins or an elastic band, gently pass a toothbrush on each side of each link “against the tide”. Then gently pull each “link” of the braid to detach it. Combined with the toothbrush system, this will make your hair more voluminous and more “inhabited”. You will look more bohemian, and less of a strict teacher. And of course, you will appear to have about 30% more hair than you really have!
10. Silicone beauty mixers :
Gone are the days when dirty, absorbent sponges were used to mix makeup. The silicone beauty mixers, called sillisponges, are the latest trend, and we hope it is here to stay. These sponges are smooth and clear and do not absorb makeup products.
11. Contour in the kitchen :
You could at least get your modeling tool – a spoon, to be more precise – in your kitchen and prepare to sculpt like a pro! There are so many videos on YouTube illustrating this trick. Some have even tried it with a chef’s knife, but for obvious reasons, we don’t recommend it!
Besides being quite less dangerous, a spoon gives a more natural result than a knife. Hold the spoon at a slightly downward angle, so that the head of the spoon cuts the apple off your cheek. Use the spoon as a shield and apply the bronzer or the outline under the spoon. Use only what is already on the brush to continue mixing until the product is released. After removing the spoon, blend any remaining hardness. Your cheekbones should look sharp enough to cut!
12. Increase FPS :
We’ve all been told a million times to wear sunscreen, but with age you have to take SPF even more seriously. You might think there is no use since you already have wrinkles, but taking care of your skin really helps limit the damage.
You should look for sunscreen that protects more than your cheeks, chin and nose. An eye cream with SPF 15 or higher can help prevent crow’s feet from getting deeper. Lip balms with SPF can reduce wrinkles that cause lipstick to bleed. And don’t neglect your neck – this is another area where lines will form.
13. The remover helps to stay :
The nails are another tedious thing to maintain, especially because all this hard work only lasts a day or two sometimes! This is because we are not preparing our nails properly before applying the nail polish.
The good news is that the remover helps the nail polish stay in place. Yes, you read correctly. The main reason why varnishes flake off so quickly is because of the natural oils in your nails which act as a barrier between the two, even if you are not able to see or smell them.
So, by rubbing your nail with a little remover before applying the base coat, you effectively wipe off these oils. Try applying your nail polish this way and it will last much longer!
14. Eye shadow… on your scalp :
As we age, we face many beauty problems, one of the most important of which is hair loss. To find a temporary solution to this dilemma, look no further than your makeup bag. You can use your eye shadow to brush uneven areas to fill them. Just use a brush, domed, eyeshadow to gently dab the shadow on the areas framing the face that appear clean. Make sure to clean up any fallout and make sure the hair line is even and finish off with a bit of hair spray.
Unfortunately, if you’re blonde or redhead, this advice might not be as useful to you because the color of the eye shadow you use should match your actual hair. But if you have brown or black hair, you can go!
15. Go lighter :
Wearing a black or dark brown liquid pencil may be what you’re used to, but it may be time to change your makeup routine. If you’ve noticed that you seem to be getting more and more tired lately, consider switching to lighter liners. This tip is especially suitable for those of us who are almost 40 or older and who are having trouble applying the liner correctly on the changing landscape of their eyes.
Gel or cream eyeliners are the best choice and have a fine-tipped brush that is practical for application. A medium brown shade will not be as unforgiving as jet black, and it will also give you a fresher, cleaner, and more youthful look. The formula is also good because it doesn’t pull like a pencil or jump like a liquid. The softer formula will open your eyes and make you look more alert.
For the eyebrows, try a lighter shade. If you are blonde or silver, you can take a shade darker than your hair, but not more.
