Lime can build up quickly on faucets, showers, sinks and in toilets. over time, it can leave rust and scale stains that are very unsightly and often extremely difficult to remove.

Although there are many commercial cleaning products that can remove lime stains from toilets, several natural household products can be just as effective in getting rid of this brown lime scale without harmful chemicals.

Baking soda and white vinegar

Baking soda and vinegar are two of the most useful household products that can be used to clean up a lot of things, like lime deposits in the toilet.

1. Pour about 1 cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and shake it with a toilet brush. Let stand for about 1 minute.
2. Add about 1 cup of baking soda to the bowl, then add 1 to 2 more cups of vinegar. This will create a sparkling action. Let the solution sit for about 10 minutes.
3. Use a toilet brush to agitate the solution around the bowl, making sure to rub on any stains that are on the walls above the waterline. Do not flush the toilet.
4. Let the solution of vinegar and baking soda sit for up to 30 minutes, stirring once or twice until the stain is gone.
5. If stains remain, scrub them with the toilet brush or a stiff bristle nylon brush.

Another option for scrubbing very stubborn lime stains in toilets is steel wool of quality 000 (quality 000 is the finest).
